Lego City 2010 Reviews

Set 7567: Traveller $3.49

This is an exceptionally good impulse set for the Lego City Airport sub-theme. This set includes a happy tourist with a jacket, camera, and camera bag. As he checks his bags (which are placed on the luggage cart), he looks at the flight schedule to find out when the plane to Denmark will take off. My only complaint (and it's not even a complaint about the set) is that the 3181 plane hasn't been released yet.

Set 3177: Small Car $4.99

This is a very nice new set for the Airport sub-theme, a dark brown-haired fellow in a (new) hoodie and green pants driving a sturdy smart (it looks like a smart car, so I call it one) car. It's an excellent set featuring a new hoodie-print torso and rare dark brown kid hair. I like!

Set 3178: Seaplane $10.99

Another Airport set, this set has a cleverly-built seaplane with a sturdy pilot and a small piece of land with a tank of Octan fuel and a windsock. The plane has a small cockpit and a rear luggage compartment. The pilot has the new curved-brim hat. My only complaint (and this is kind of weird) is that the fuel tank doesn't have an Octan symbol printed or stickered on it. Preferably printed. Oh well. The set's great anyway!

Set 3179: Repair Truck $12.99

Another great Airport set: an electrician's truck! Perfect for repairing the lights at an airport and runway! The truck has a raising bucket for repairing lights, tool compartments, tools, extra lights, and work-site blockades. The portion of sidewalk has a (I estimated with the 7047 Coast Watch HQ) two-story street light and a green recycling bin. A great set!

Day 24: Saint Nick and Chimney

The last day of the calendar, and we meet a happy surprise: Santa Claus, with a sack on his back, and a cinder-filled chimney with stockings mounted on it. How cute!

Day 23: Christmas Tree

The day before Christmas Eve, and we are gifted with a tiny Christmas Tree, a fairy wand adorning the top. Cute!

This must be the tree the lumberjack cut down and decorated.

Day 22: Log Stand, Log, and Chainsaw

Today we are gifted with a very ingenious mini-set: A piece of firewood on a stand and a chainsaw to cut it with! This fits the Christmas theme entirely! This leaves one more day of Lumberjackiness, and then a Santa Claus day.

Long 5-page strip today, make sure to read it all.

Advent Calendar Doors 20 and 21

Day 20: Track Flag and Cones, RC Car, and Car Control Stick

So that's what happened with that red car!

Good job, Lego! More festive cheer! The rest of the RC Car set! Tomorrow will we get a track or something else?

Day 21: Lumberjack

Maybe not.

Lego breaks loose and cuts the RC Car theme a day short. Instead, we get a festive tree-chopper! (No sarcasm-sounding intended.)

This lumberjack wears a protective vest, hat, and sunglasses. Under the vest, he wears overalls with a pen and wrenches in the pocket.

This means two more days of Lumberjack!

The cones mark the battlefield (though they're hard to see) and the lumberjack is behind the good guy (though you can't see him at all. The good guy is in front of him.)

This will be good!

Day 19: Kid and RC Car

Orange hair! Red shirt! Smile face! Blue antenna! Dark blue legs (you can't see them well)! White RC car!

One thing was a matter of confusion to me. On the box, an orange-haired kid played with a red car. However, on my 2010 set order email telling me the order shipped, a dark-brown haired boy controlled a white car. This appears to be a combo. Nice!

Yes, that's right. Another fight scene, another several page long strip, another boss. Bet you can't guess who!
